Returning to La Souterraine to play his music, Gauvain Sers had dreamed of it for a long time. In love with his native region, he is here on conquered ground. “My name is still Gauvain Sers and I’m still a singer in a velvet cap ribbed brown and I’m from Creuse!”, he launches with panache to begin his singing tour in front of a packed room and an audience in heaven.
When Gauvain Sers plans a concert in Creuseit is always an event, for the fans of the first hour. “He has a very strong thought on all the problems of society, I think he represents Creuse well”, assures a spectator. And for the child of the country, playing at home is a bit like spending an evening with the family. “All the concerts in Creuse are important to me, it’s where I grew up, it’s where I my roots, my childhood memories. I often say that I wouldn’t have written the same songs if I hadn’t grown up there. Every time I come back, there’s a symbolism, a particular time.“
During this evening, Gauvain Sers played his hit songs, but also the new songs from his latest album: Your place in this world. A third installment who calls for tolerance and compassion. Since he started singing in 2017, Gauvain Sers has been composing texts that honor the left behind, the invisible and the victims of an individualistic society. But also the peoples in the turmoil of totalitarian regimes. At the moment it ishe war in Ukraine occupies the mind of the singer. Through the reading of a text written the same day, he gave his support to the Ukrainian people. “It’s impossible not to talk about it. I am extremely upset by what is happening and I think that we have not yet measured the extent of what was happening. I support the innocent and the Ukrainian people who are being bombarded.”
As a good committed singer and during the electoral campaign, Gauvain Sers ended his concert by calling out to Emmanuel Macron. Mister President, a song in the form of a letter inspired by its two reference artists: Boris Vian and Renaud.
