In 2018, Gatto Matto opened in Laval in a key location (adjoining Place Bell and facing the future Espace Montmorency). With its flowery decor, all dressed in pink, and its Italian-inspired cuisine, it quickly became a popular restaurant.
The place has since had a renewed team at its head, including a talented chef who wants to bring a more gastronomic and less commercial touch to the place. Of Armenian origin, Ara Ekmekdjian studied at Leméac, then at the elegant Italian table Beatrice Ristorante and at Chien Fumant.
While Gatto Matto launched a second address in Boisbriand last November, it offers a revisited menu where you will of course find the pastas and pizzas that made its big brother so successful, but also a variety of antipasti, crudo and pesce. e meat, Mediterranean-inspired: grilled octopus with tahini and bruschetta, endive and radicchio salad with labneh with dates, red tuna tartare topped with a salsa cacciatore…
With 95% of the products being homemade, a revisited wine list with a fine choice of bubbles, macerated and organic wines, not to mention the refined cocktails, the team in place hopes to bring “a bit of Montreal to the off the island,” says Olivier Ferron, co-owner.
