Gatineau | Man stabbed while waiting for bus

(Gatineau) The police are trying to capture the person responsible for an assault that occurred Tuesday evening in Gatineau, during which a public transport user was allegedly stabbed for no apparent reason, in the Hull sector.


The Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG) reports that the victim was transported to the hospital, but that his life is not in danger.

The assault allegedly occurred shortly before 10 p.m. at the Montcalm station, on the street of the same name, near Highway 50. An elderly man in his forties, the alleged victim, explained to the police who came to his rescue that was hit in the chest as he waited for the bus to arrive.

After stabbing the victim for no apparent reason, the suspect reportedly fled.

Shortly after the assault, police officers searched the area where the event took place to locate the suspect, but without success.

The investigation is continuing to determine the circumstances of this assault. The SPVG invites anyone with information to contact the police.
