Several hundred people gathered in Corsica in front of the prefectures of Ajaccio and Bastia, as well as in front of the sub-prefecture of Corte, after the violent attack suffered by Yvan Colonna in prison on Wednesday, reports France Bleu RCFM.
The Corsican nationalist was a victim “from strangulation with bare hands, then from suffocation” from a fellow prisoner in Arles prison, according to the Tarascon prosecutor. Yvan Colonna, sentenced for the assassination of the prefect Claude Erignac in February 1998, is in a post-anoxic coma, between life and death.

Calls for rallies were launched by Femu a Corsica, Core in fronte, Corsica Libera and all organizations supporting political prisoners, as well as student unions. Candles were also placed in front of the prefectures by the demonstrators.
