Gaspesie | Snowmobiler dies in New Carlisle

(New Carlisle) A snowmobiler lost his life on Monday afternoon after rolling over his vehicle in New Carlisle, in Gaspésie.


The 45-year-old man was traveling alone on his private property located rue de Caen around 4:30 p.m. According to witnesses, he was crossing a field when he hit a hard snow blade. The vehicle overturned before rolling over.

He was transported in critical condition to hospital where he was found dead, said Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesperson, Stéphane Tremblay.

Speed ​​may have played a role, says Sergeant Tremblay. The victim was not wearing a helmet.

An investigation by the SQ and the coroner is underway to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding this death.
