(Chandler) A group of friends who were swimming in Lac des Sept Îles, in Chandler, in Gaspésie, experienced a tragic event on Thursday morning. One of the group mates drowned.

The event occurred around 11:15 a.m. in the Chemin du Lac-Sept-Îles area, said the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). “He was an elderly man in his forties who was swimming with a group when he was lost to sight in Lac des Sept Îles,” said SQ spokesperson Béatrice Dorsainville.
He was found soon after in a critical summer. The man was taken to a hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.
He was not wearing a personal flotation device.
An investigator from the SQ moved to the scene to analyze the scene. The investigation is continuing to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding the drowning.
