Gaspesie | A fisherman is missing

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is carrying out major searches to find a sexagenarian who went missing in Gaspésie late Friday afternoon, after going fishing on the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

ATV patrollers, volunteers on foot and even a Canadian Armed Forces helicopter were deployed much of the night from Friday to Saturday to try to find this man in his sixties.

It was around 4 p.m. Friday that the police officers of the MRC de La Côte-de-Gaspé were notified that a man who had gone fishing was missing.

The research is taking place in the Cap-des-Rosiers sector, in Gaspé, an isolated region located at the northern end of the Gaspésie peninsula.

The search resumed early Saturday morning, said Sergeant Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the SQ. Divers have now been added to the SQ team.
