Garou papa: he rarely evokes his 20-year-old daughter, who “explains life” to him

It is a new Garou who presented himself on the set of We are live Saturday evening on France 2. After some time of absence, the singer from Quebec agreed to answer the questions of Léa Salamé and Laurent Ruquier, and thus to evoke his new life, lost in a forest he bought in Quebec and where he settled in a renovated barn. In this natural environment, he notably began to produce maple syrup, but above all to compose! Indeed, after 25 years of career, Garou finally embarked on writing for the first time. He has just released his new single entitled UpScene. And surprise, it is his daughter Emelie which made him want to box his own songs.

He explained himself on this subject, evoking this child in an exceptional way. “It’s my daughter’s fault. Because the pandemic arrives, I am on tour in Russia, then finally we come home in panic, and I have trouble seeing my daughter because we are in quarantine … And then I make my syrup of maple and I buy a maple ukulele for my daughter. And we meet in a park and I knew that maybe I would wake up something because my daughter, I tried to teach her the piano, the guitar, she didn’t want to! She was like stuck, saying to herself: ‘this is daddy’s, nobody’s going to listen to my stuff, I don’t want to’. And for the ukulele, she hugged me, she was so happy! Then she started to compose songs and it was great. It put pressure on me, I said to myself ‘I have to go’. I needed a 20 year old girl to explain life to me“, he said still touched by this click.

It is very rare that Garou speaks of his daughter. So much so that the general public knows very little about the young Emelie except that the latter was born on July 7, 2001 of her relationship with Ulrika, a Swedish model.
