The total accumulation could be around 150 to 200 mm in the Cévennes, with “possible points at 250 mm”. Gard and Hérault will be placed on orange “rain-flood” alert on the morning of Wednesday October 18. “A Mediterranean episode sets in on Tuesday evening, intensifying especially from Wednesday morningwrites the watchdog. The uncertainty mainly concerns the precise location of the heaviest rains. Plain regions should be less affected a priori but it is important to keep informed of developments in the situation.”

Furthermore, neighboring departments on yellow alert could see their level of vigilance increase. Ardèche is particularly concerned.
