TSN reported that the game was called off less than two hours before kickoff on Sunday.

Canada had previously canceled two training sessions, scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

Reports say there are disagreements over the salaries of players who will take part in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. There would also be problems regarding the transport of athletes and their relatives.

Soccer Canada issued a statement late Saturday night saying it was “currently in discussion with national team players regarding their fair and equitable compensation ahead of the FIFA World Cup period”.

Canada, ranked 38e world rank, was to be measured against Panama (61e) on Sunday, before kicking off the Concacaf Nations League against Curaçao (79e) in Vancouver on June 9.
