Parliamentary leader and co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire (QS) Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois affirmed Thursday that his colleague Alexandre Leduc still has all the legitimacy to exercise his functions, despite verbal outpourings which forced him to apologize to a CAQ opponent after a heated exchange at the Salon Bleu.
Before going to question period, Mr. Nadeau-Dubois declared that Mr. Leduc, parliamentary leader of QS, still has all his confidence, after a clash with his government counterpart Simon Jolin-Barrette.
“Let he who has never sinned cast the first stone,” he said in an exchange with journalists. It’s the end of the session, everyone is tired. Politicians are human beings, they sometimes lose control of their emotions, this is what happened to my friend Alexandre. »
Refusing to comment on Mr. Jolin-Barrette’s attitude, Mr. Nadeau-Dubois downplayed tensions.
“There are debates like in a healthy democracy,” he said. I’ve had many more tense and acrimonious ends to a session than that. »
A few minutes earlier, Mr. Leduc had adopted a low profile by going to the Blue Room on Thursday morning for question period.
“As soon as I left the Blue Room, I knew that I had done wrong, that I had had a burst of emotions that I had not been able to contain, so that’s why, very quickly, as soon as I When I calmed down, I decided to contact Mr. Jolin-Barrette, to write my message on social networks,” he said.
On Wednesday, Mr. Leduc apologized after saying “Fuck you Simon” to his opponent at the end of an exchange at the Salon bleu.
In denouncing his comments, Mr. Jolin-Barrette questioned Mr. Leduc’s abilities to exercise his duties as parliamentary leader due to this emotional reaction.
After question period on Wednesday, Mr. Leduc wanted to reconsider a decision by the President of the National Assembly, Nathalie Roy, to proscribe the terms “exploit women” recently used by QS MP Christine Labrie.
