The one who had been nicknamed the HRD killer, Gabriel Fortin, was sentenced to the maximum sentence: life, accompanied by a security period of 22 years by the Assize Court of Drôme, Wednesday, June 28. He was found guilty of three murders and one attempt in 2021.

Life imprisonment for Gabriel Fortin with 22 years of security sentence. The Assize Court followed the requisitions of the Advocate General even if the jurors recognized a partial alteration at the time of the facts. An exemplary sentence, but mixed reactions from the families of victims. “For me, it’s not expensive to pay. 22 years of security, I lost my wife, I took life, for an eternity and believe me I say that with a lump in my stomach”testifies Jean-Luc Pasquion, husband of Patricia Pasquion.

A thoughtful act of revenge

Bertrand Meichel, who miraculously escaped the shots of Gabriel Fortin, will remain unanswered to his questions. “Mr. Fortin remained silent on this, what do you want, we will have to live with that”, he said. The “HRD killer” has just been sentenced for having murdered in 2021 two human resources directors who had conducted his dismissal interviews and an employee of a job center in Valence. His revenge has been well thought out. Since his arrest, he has never tried to justify his actions, an attitude he kept during 13 days of hearing. According to his lawyer, Gabriel Fortin has not yet decided whether he will appeal this verdict.
