“Early December.” This is the deadline set by the Minister of National Education, Gabriel Attal, to announce “decisions”particularly on the “question of the taboo of repeating a grade”, mentioned on Wednesday November 22, during a workshop on schools at the congress of the Association of Mayors of France.
This series of announcements will also aim to “raise the general level” students, particularly in middle school where his proposal “level groups” in maths and French is debated. The minister also recalled that he will return on this same occasion to “the possibility for [son] ministry of labeling school textbooks”whose content and method will have proven their “efficiency”.
Gabriel Attal also met in January to unveil “a profound reform of training for the teaching profession”in order to “pre-recruit at baccalaureate level” those who have “the vocation” teacher and reestablish a “competition at bac+3 level” followed by a “gradual entry into the profession over two years”. “I think that will solve part of the problem” of attractiveness of the profession, he explained, while many positions remain vacant each year due to lack of candidates.
