Gabriel Attal will answer questions alone to the government on Wednesday during five sessions

A new format. Prime Minister Gabriel Attal will respond “personally” to deputies during question sessions to the government on Wednesday, on an experimental basis from April 3 and for five sessions, France Télévisions learned on Tuesday March 26 from a parliamentary source. This experiment, to which Gabriel Attal was favorable, was decided after a meeting of the heads of political groups in the Assembly, around the President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet. The same idea had already been proposed to Elisabeth Borne, who refused.

Until there, the different ministers answered the various questions addressed to them two days a week: Tuesday and Wednesday. The idea would now be to devote one of these two weekly sessions to questions addressed solely to the Prime Minister, in order to revitalize questions to the government. For at least five weeks, all MPs will be able to address him directly, whereas you had to be group president to directly challenge the Prime Minister.

Already this winter, a new formula had been proposed: the presidency of the assembly had decided to divide the session in two, with one part on Tuesday, another on Wednesday. Before this change, the exchange lasted two hours, but everything everyone ended up deserting the hemicycle as the questions continued.
