The day after threats of explosive attacks were sent to thousands of students and their parents, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced the broad outlines of a plan to secure “at risk” establishments.

At the Jean-Pierre Vernant high school, in Sèvres (Hauts-de-Seine), the police presence is significant, and bags are systematically searched. Maximum vigilance is still required on Friday March 22, after threats of an explosive attack against around fifty establishments in the Ile-de-France region. The Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, promised to track down the perpetrators, but also to eradicate all forms of violence, inside and outside of school.

Up to 200 “at risk” establishments

In a speech on Thursday March 21, the day after sending the threatening message to thousands of students and their parents, Gabriel Attal said he wished “identify the establishments most at risk, and have an appropriate response for each of these establishments”. 150 to 200 establishments would currently be affected, said the Prime Minister. At this stage, no explosives have been found and the terrorist trail has not been established.
