Gabriel Attal should no longer be Prime Minister as of Tuesday, July 16. Franceinfo has learned that the President of the Republic could accept his resignation on that date, which will allow him to become, on Saturday, July 13, president of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly.
The only candidate in the race, Gabriel Attal should be elected without difficulty, he who won the hearts of many Macronists, praised for his work during these early legislative elections. The Prime Minister is establishing himself as the savior of the Renaissance camp in these legislative elections.
For Christopher Weissberg, deputy of the deputy Roland Lescure in the 1st constituency of French people abroad, Gabriel Attal has largely contributed to limiting the damage, “the one who was the pole of stability and who allowed us to fight, he specifies. And since the results, even if they are a defeat for us, are less bad than expected, I think that many deputies are extremely grateful to him.”
According to Renaissance Paris MP Benjamin Haddad, the Prime Minister has demonstrated that he has become indispensable to the future of the party. “He played a fundamental role in our political family, estimates the elected official. We are entering an uncertain period. He is best placed to lead our family at this time, which is why we are supporting him as president of the group.”
Some are already attributing presidential ambitions to the current Prime Minister for 2027, but this is not at all the time to think about it for the Renaissance MP from Haut-Rhin Olivier Becht. “The priorities at the moment are the good management of the Olympic Games, he claims, then the number one priority is really to build this grand coalition. Ambitions for 2027 must be put on hold.”
While Gabriel Attal has never really spoken publicly about presidential ambition, Emmanuel Macron is taking the lead. On Friday, during a meeting with party officials, the head of state launched this message : “Nation rather than premature ambitions.”
