Gabriel Attal announces the creation of “work of educational interest” for delinquents under 16 years old

“We must have appropriate sanctions for minors under 16.” Gabriel Attal announced the upcoming creation of “work of educational interest” for minors under 16 years of age, for whom “we cannot today impose a community service sentence”during its general policy statement before the National Assembly, Tuesday January 30.

The Prime Minister alluded to the presence “rioters (…) very young” during the “violence last July”, “for whom violence seems like a means like any other to stave off boredom”. These new sanctions will be part of the juvenile justice bill.

“We will also make parents more responsible”affirmed the Prime Minister, “the establishment of community service for parents of young delinquents who have evaded their parental obligations”. But Gabriel Attal also claims to want “help” families “overtaken by events” : “When a young person is on the downside, rather than letting them fall into delinquency, we will suggest to parents that they be placed in a boarding school by facilitating access, including financial access.“.
