If he does not believe that the motion of censure against Michel Barnier has any chance of succeeding this Tuesday, October 8, the political scientist and teacher at Sciences-Po Bruno Cauvrai considers that the text will make it possible to assess the solidity of the coalition around the Prime Minister.
On the evening of Tuesday October 8 at the National Assembly, Michel Barnier will face his first motion of censure. But the left’s initiative has little chance of succeeding. “It will not be censored tonight”says political scientist Bruno Cautres, researcher at Cevipof and teacher at Sciences-Po, guest of “La matinale” this Tuesday.
“For this to happen, both the entire left and the National Rally would have to come together”underlines Bruno Cautres. However, only 192 parliamentarians out of 289 expressed their intention to sign the text.
But this motion could make it possible to “see who supports or opposes the government”adds the researcher. And to quote Gabriel Attal and Gérald Darmanin, who “sent very negative signals to Michel Barnier”. Because the union around the new Prime Minister is fragile: “It is a coalition which was created in an improvised manner and which has still not found the fundamental pillars on which it rests”specifies the political scientist.
