The Minister of Education made this statement on Friday during his first trip to visit a school in Yvelines that was burned down during the June riots.

For his first trip as Minister of National Education, Gabriel Attal went to the Yvelines. He visited a school in La Verrière, which was burnt down during the riots that followed Nahel’s death. At the start of the school year, some 170 children from this establishment will be educated at the Regional Primary School, made available by the Ile-de-France region. “All students will have schooling solutions at the start of the school year”promised Gabriel Attal.

“What matters to me is that this schooling is stable. You have to put yourself in the shoes of the students and families”added the Minister, stressing the need to take into account “school transport time and canteen prices”.
Gabriel Attal calculated at “over 200” the number of schools damaged by the riots, including “a dozen completely destroyed”.
