Gab Bouchard and Mathieu Quenneville win the SOCAN Song Prize

Singer-songwriter Gab Bouchard and his co-writer Mathieu Quenneville won the French section of the SOCAN Song Prize for Your shift is not over.

The song in question appears on the second album of the artist from Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Grafigneslaunched in 2022.

The prize is the result of a public vote among eight songs which were selected by a music industry jury.

Gab Bouchard and Mathieu Quenneville said they were happy to receive this recognition and to have resonated with the public.

Winners are awarded a $10,000 scholarship, as well as a new musical instrument provided by Yamaha worth up to $2,500.

Among the other songs nominated were: Fromwritten and performed by Lydia Képinski, Girl to wearwritten by Ariane Roy and Roxane Azzaria and performed by Roy and Lou-Adriane Cassidy, as well as Where do I come fromby Simon Bolduc, performed by Bolduc crookedly.

The last recipient of this award was Hubert Lenoir, for his song Secretwritten by himself, Félix Côté and Julien Chiasson.
