G-Squad: Chris Keller, the leader of the group, drops a bomb on his former comrades

They charmed young and old alike with their voices and attractive looks. But the biceps were perhaps the only real arguments of the five members of the boy band G-Squad. Star of the 1990s, Chris Keller, Marlon, Gérald Jean-Laurent, Mika and Andrew Mac Carthy enjoyed incredible success thanks to unforgettable titles, such as No girl in the world, crazy about you or Touched in the heart. The vocal abilities of all these handsome young men were, however, not for much in this glory, if we are to believe the statements of the former muscular leader of this musical formation.

It lasted several years

Guest at the microphone of the show Morning without filter, from Virgin Radio on Thursday, September 29, 2022, Chris Keller actually revealed that his bandmates at the time were just not music lovers. Neither very gifted, musically speaking. “They weren’t singinghe actually explained. The problem is that when you sing in playback for years, because it lasted for several years, you think you really sing.“And that’s how he had a funny misadventure, the day when one of their performances had been planned in Canada without a voice recording beforehand.”We had to sing everything live, he remembers. There they turned on the mic and everyone looked at me with eyes like marbles because the sound was rotten and the guys weren’t singing.

Since his G-Squad days, Chris Keller has found new comrades. He set up the Génération Boys band and has been a hit on stage ever since, with his great buddies Frank Delay, of 2be3, and Allan Theo. This is not the first that we hear this kind of story, about the most cult popstars of the 1990s. As a reminder, Victoria Beckham had confessed that she performed all her performances, with her comrades Spice Girls …with a mic turned off. “No girl in the world is more beautiful”but on the voice side, it was another story…
