It’s an incredible story that intersects with sulphurous characters, from an intermediary with a troubled past to the queen of the celebrity press, including a wealthy businessman and even a controversial property dealer. And at the heart of all this intrigue, a former President of the Republic caught by the courts: Nicolas Sarkozy.
At the origin of this incredible imbroglio, what must have been a resounding scoop: the retraction in an interview with Paris Match and BFM TV by Ziad Takieddine, one of Nicolas Sarkozy’s main accusers in the alleged Libyan financing of his 2007 presidential campaign.
A dark cabinet?
The problem is that this change of heart would not be spontaneous. For more than three years, dozens of hours of telephone tapping, searches and even a few stays in prison seem to outline the outlines of a black cabinet, which would have maneuvered so that Ziad Takieddine changed his version and publicly exonerated Nicolas Sarkozy.
For months, the “Complementary Investigation” teams approached each of those indicted in this case. Some have agreed to give their exclusive testimony and to reveal their version of what they call the “Save Sarko” operation.
