Furious at not having received sauce, a Montrealer beats a health worker at the McDonald’s drive-thru

A Montreal man furious at not receiving sauce with his McDonald’s order has been convicted of assault for wanton assaulting a healthcare worker for asking him to stop yelling at workers at the restaurant.

“[La victime] had a broken tooth; swollen and split lips; swollen and bloodshot eye. She had stomach pains that lasted several weeks and bruises on her arms and legs, ”summarizes judge Alain St-Pierre, of the municipal court of Montreal.

The attack occurred on June 12, 2021, around 1 a.m. at the McDonald’s restaurant on Newman Boulevard, in the borough of LaSalle.

In a drunken state after an evening at the bar, Raphaël Levert was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his sister, Jade, when he freaked out… for missing sauces in his order.

He then proceeded to bang furiously on the window of the drive-thru, imitated by his sister.

The victim in this case, who had just finished his shift at the hospital, was in the vehicle behind that of the duo.

The beaten victim

She got out of her car and yelled at the duo to stop and leave the staff alone.

“Before she even knows it, [Raphaël Levert] was in front of his face. The only thing she remembers afterwards is the pain she felt in her stomach and face,” the decision reads, as the victim was punched and kicked. .

“[Jade Levert] started yelling in his face that she should mind his own business instead of minding other people’s. She also mentioned that we were in Quebec and that we spoke French here, ”we add.

It was ultimately a tall man who was able to separate the accused from the poor victim who was lying on the ground, bleeding.

“Angry and bellicose people”

For his part, the accused and his sister tried to make the judge believe that it was the victim who had attacked him first and that Raphaël Levert had simply replied with a single blow to defend himself.

“For what [la victime] would have jumped on the defendant to attack him, as he claims? The Court finds no reason that could explain such an attack,” wrote Judge Alain St-Pierre.

“It should be borne in mind that the defendant is in his early twenties. He is 5ft 11in, weighs 170-180lbs and has an athletic physique. [La victime] is a woman in her early fifties and of small stature,” adds the magistrate.

Believing that Raphaël Levert and his sister Jade were not credible and that they had the behavior of “angry and bellicose people” that evening, he found the young man guilty of assault causing bodily harm.

The young man should know his sentence at a later date.
