Parents are outraged by a driver who fled the scene after hitting two teenagers as they crossed a street corner last Friday in Montreal.
“Accidents happen, but no matter what happened, you don’t leave people in the same way without helping them”, plague Karla Diaz.
His son Jayson Guzman was crossing at a pedestrian traffic light with his friend Lukha Khvan when a car hit them head-on while turning at the corner of rue Hochelaga and boulevard Pie-IX, in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district. The two sports-study students were returning from baseball practice at the start of the evening.

The leg injury suffered by Jayson Guzman.
“I got hit in the leg, at the knee, says Jayson, showing his wound still grazed with blood. The car stopped a little further. We went around the corner to try to see if my leg was okay. And when we turned around, the car was already gone. »
The worst avoided
The teenagers couldn’t believe their eyes: “It just doesn’t happen,” Lukha drops, bluntly.
During the collision, he had the reflex to shoot and catch up with his friend Jayson, which probably avoided a much more severe shock, according to them.
“Fortunately, there were no serious consequences. But still, we felt insulted by the behavior of the driver,” says Jayson’s father, Renso Guzman.
Her 15-year-old son still had to undergo a host of tests at the hospital. For his part, Lukha, 14, was injured very slightly in his hand.
” This must stop “
This shocks the parents especially since the hit-and-run occurred barely two weeks after a 7-year-old Ukrainian girl lost her life, hit by a car on her way to school in Montreal. .
The driver, who had also fled, had finally surrendered the same day to the police.
“It has to stop,” insists Mr. Guzman.
“It’s the least we can do to help. Especially when we’re talking about young people. A hit and run is a serious crime, it’s incomprehensible,” added Chau Ngan Tran Cao, Lukha’s mother.
Montreal police are investigating the event.
So far, no suspicious vehicle has been identified, spokesman Julien Lévesque said.
