Funny singer from La Rochelle, Le Bingo unveils a first single with crazy looks

Olivier Cardinal, alias Le Bingo, is preparing to release his first five-track EP on March 4, which promises a groovy soundtrack full of humor. He gives an appointment to all his fans and lovers of curiosities on March 5, 2022 at the Abattoirs de Cognac and on the 19th at the Nouvelles Scènes festival in Niort.

In his songs, Olivier Cardinal depicts everyday situations with humor and surrealism and dresses these little nothings with refined pop pieces. Like that first clip, Air flow, which talks about fly problems. A funny situation that he stages in a funny clip with vintage decor. “I always liked since I was a kid the TV credits of the 80s, all this kind of kitsch stuff, it can be part of the things that influenced this song”, reveals the musician.

Singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist, Olivier Cardinal, is a versatile musician. He sings on this first opus a pop waltz on commonplaces, tells a foggy poetry with great blows of electric piano and synthesizers of the 80s, mixes jazz, soul and groovy operetta without complex. “This Le Bingo project is an opportunity for me to externalize, to seek deep inside me all that I can do artistically, so I experience all that and I like it”, he rejoices.

To record this first album, Olivier Cardinal entrusted the production to his friend Emile Sornin (Forever Pavot) and the mixing to Benjamin Glibert (Aquaserge). To shop the five titles that compose it, Le Bingo used everything he had at hand, Fender Rhodes, piano, 60’s round bass, drums, synthesizers, vibraphone, percussion etc. The result is minimalist pop melodies bathed in haunting vocal harmonies and convoluted jazz arrangements.

A strange universe that he will play in a group on stage with friends from the region. Antonin Pierre (ex Pony Pony Run Run) on guitar, synthesizers, percussion and backing vocals, Yohan Landry (ex-Microfilm, Prince Miiaou) on bass and backing vocals, and Dimitri Chaillou (Robot Orchestra) on drums and backing vocals.
