For two years, Funkindustry has been a hit in Asia. An unexpected success which gave a big boost to the career of this group created in 2014. A new album will be released next month.
They are better known in Japan than in France. The six Strasbourg residents of the Funkindustry group are living a real success story in East Asia. It all started in the summer of 2021 when they were contacted by a Japanese dancer. Yutaro Yoshihara wants to use a piece of the group for a dance competition in Japan broadcast on television. Funkindustry members find out that the title Must has been making dance, for several months now, many lovers of locking (funk / hip-hop dance). They find several videos on social networks in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
This musical adventure has of course influenced the band’s second album which will be released on CD on November 26th. Funkindustry called on young Japanese rapper Jua for one of their tracks Suddenly. Sixty Japanese locking dancers participated in the clip Gimme all you got. The album which is available on online listening platforms already has its audience. “We are much more streamed and listened to than the first album. There is even an expectation of new Funkindustry tracks in the locking dance community in Japan”, rejoices Nathan Clavier, singer and guitarist of the group.
This notoriety propelled Funkindustry into the world of music professionals. “Until now, we did everything ourselves. Now, we have people who place our records with distributors, on streaming platforms. We will work with people who will find us turners. that it contributes to the professionalization of having this environment around us “ recognizes François-Xavier Laurent, keyboardist and backing vocalist of Funkindustry. The group now hopes to reach out to its Japanese audience with a tour if possible in 2022.
