On April 29, 2022, a funeral tribute was paid to actor Jacques Perrin, who died on April 21 at the age of 80. In the presence of the Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly and the First Lady Brigitte Macron, this ceremony organized at the Invalides paid tribute to the actor – an officer in the citizen reserve of the National Navy as well as official painter of the Navy – who was “an emblematic figure with whom generations of French officers and soldiers have identified“, according to the ministry.
Many personalities wanted to pay tribute to Jacques Perrin, who was involved in the making of the film the last men on the Foreign Legion (scheduled for release in 2023) at the time of his death. Arrived by scooter, Patrick Poivre d’Arvor was present at this tribute – despite the fact that he is currently the target of serious accusations of rape, sexual assault and harassment. Gérard Jugnot, all smiles with a white beard and sunglasses blue mirrors, was also present.
François Xavier-Demaison, Bernard de la Villardière, Frédéric Mitterrand, Bernard Kouchner, Jérôme Seydoux and his wife Sophie, Jean-Baptiste Maunier, Costa-Gravas, Jean-Paul Huchon, Pierre Santini, Macha Méril but also Christophe Barratier (nephew of Jacques Perrin) were seen leaving the tribute organized in this historic and symbolic monument of the History of France.
Member since 2019 of the Academy of Fine Arts, actor in more than 70 feature films at the cinema since the 1950s, notably with Pierre Schoendoerffer and Jacques Demy, Jacques Perrin has been the co-producer of around fifteen films since the end of of the 1960s, including Z by Costa-Gavras (1968) or The chorists (2004) by his nephew Christophe Barratier, in which he also played (8.6 million admissions).
A committed defender of nature, he has co-produced several documentaries on this theme, including The Monkey People (1989), Microcosmos: the grass people (1996) or Himalayas: the childhood of a chef (1999). Subsequently, he himself co-directed acclaimed documentaries, including The migrating peopledevoted to birds (2001, 2.8 million spectators in France), then oceans (2010, 2.9 million viewers), awarded the César for best documentary in 2011).
