The day is exceptional in the United Kingdom. For the British people, Monday, September 19, 2022 is downright bank holiday. It is on this day that Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8 at the age of 96, is entitled to her final tributes. Her funeral is held in Westminster Abbey, the place where she married Philip in 1947, and where she was made queen in 1953. To tell her “good-bye“, before she was buried privately at St. George’s Chapel, many people made the trip to London.
The crowd allowed in Westminster Abbey consisted of 2,000 spectators, including dignitaries from around the world. Between members of royal families, of course, support is required. This is how we found King Philippe of Belgium, King Felipe VI of Spain and Prince Albert of Monaco under the Gothic arches of Westminster Abbey. The sovereign, who reigns over the Rock, was accompanied by his wife, Princess Charlene of Monaco. The couple was already present, in England, the day before the funeral, September 18, 2022, during a reception held by King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla at Buckingham Palace.
