Fully vaccinated travelers no longer need to provide a COVID-19 test result.

Starting this Friday, April 1, fully immunized travelers no longer need to provide a COVID-19 test result prior to entry into Canada by air, land or sea.

However, the Government of Canada advises that fully vaccinated travelers from another country may still be tested for molecular COVID-19 upon arrival, if selected for mandatory random testing. Travelers selected for such screening are not required to be quarantined pending their result.

All travelers 5 years of age and older who do not qualify as fully vaccinated must still provide proof of an accepted type of COVID-19 test result prior to entry.

On the other hand, all travelers must continue to enter the required information into the free ArriveCAN mobile app or website prior to their arrival in Canada. Travelers arriving in the country who have neglected to do so may be required to undergo a screening test on arrival and undergo a 14-day quarantine, regardless of their vaccination status.

Travelers taking a cruise or traveling by air must enter their information into ArriveCAN within 72 hours of boarding.

These relaxations were announced on March 17. The Minister of Health, Jean-Yves Duclos, then explained that they were made possible thanks in particular to the high vaccination rate in Canada, the increasing accessibility and use of rapid tests to detect the infection, the decrease in hospitalizations and the increasing availability of treatments for COVID-19 in the country.
