The Tour de Guadeloupe has just ended this Sunday August 14 with the 10th stage of 147km between Gosier and Baie-Mahault. No Mayenne victory on this stage, but the performance in 10 days is extraordinary: 4 stage wins (3 for Florian Rapiteau and 1 for Célestin Guillon), 2 days with the yellow jersey on the shoulders of Célestin Guillon and a 3rd place overall for him. Not counting the team classification, the classification of the best climber and that of the combativeness.
“The contract is more than fulfilled because it is an exceptional result”welcomes Steven Laurent, the sports director of Laval Cyclisme 53, present in Guadeloupe. “It’s certainly unprecedented for us and would have to look in the club’s archives to find a trace of so many good results”explains the sports director.
“For a first 10-day race, the runners ran very well, they had the science of racing and they were rewarded with big results”emphasizes Steven Laurent. “We have to continue in this direction for the end of the season and for the seasons to come”he hopes.
