Purchasing power is one of the hot issues on the table of the new government. What are the tracks? Update on the 12/13 set, Monday July 4, with journalist Olivier Poncelet.

The government is already talking about ways to help the French, whether on fuel or food prices. “Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of the Economy, presented two ideas this morning on the radio. First proposal: the establishment of a mileage allowance for going to work”, explains the journalist Olivier Poncelet, present, Monday, July 4, on the set of 12/13. It would be aimed at people who already have a car and a job, and would be paid on a means test.

As for the rebate of 18 centimes per liter at the pump, it will stop at the end of the year. “This new system which could succeed it on January 1 would therefore be more targeted at workers, in particular the less well-off among them”, adds the journalist. Regarding food, Bruno Le Maire “proposes to authorize promotions of up to 50% in food”. Today, hyper and supermarkets cannot exceed 34% discount. The equation is difficult, because on the one hand it is necessary to protect producers, and on the other to convince intermediaries and large retailers to reduce their margins in order to lower prices.
