Faced with the shortage of fuel, the government has just lifted a taboo, on the morning of Tuesday, October 11, by not excluding requisitioning the employees of the refineries on strike.

Tuesday, October 11, France continues to be hit by fuel shortages. A tense situation: a third of gas stations is affected by supply difficulties. So some motorists are waiting for a reaction from theState to end the shortage. On Tuesday morning, the government changed its tone, not excluding a requisition of employees in blocked refineries.

“Either the negotiations start and end quickly, and the fuel depots are reopened quickly, or we will use the other means that are available to us, including requisitions”declared the Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire. But the showdown continues. The refiners voted in the wake of a continuation of the strike, at TotalEnergies like at Esso-ExxonMobil. The CGT warns that it will react in the event of requisitions. The decision to unblock and requisition refineries could be taken by Tuesday evening.
