“Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you”: he allegedly attacked his own mother by stabbing her 33 times

A young Montrealer accused of having killed his mother during an argument allegedly attacked her by stabbing her 33 times, it was announced this morning at the start of his trial.

“Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you,” said Francis Normand as he committed his crime.

Sitting in the dock, the 25-year-old was attentive as he listened to the Crown make his opening statement at his murder trial, this Thursday at the Montreal courthouse.

According to the prosecution’s evidence, Normand allegedly killed his mother, Francine Roux, 49, on January 17, 2021 in their residence on rue Gilford. During the night, an argument would have arisen and, for a reason which has not yet been explained to the jury, he would have grabbed a knife in order to stab her.

“The pathologist noted 33 wounds on the victim’s body, including a gaping wound in the neck, several in the chest, as well as in the abdomen and in the back,” explained Mr.e Katerine Brabant of the prosecution.

bloodied

However, if the murder took place while they were alone in the accommodation, the cries of the mother were heard by neighbors, including the uncle of the accused who lived on the upper floor.

“He made the decision to go down, he then found [la victime] on the floor, bloody, said the Crown. The accused was next to her, standing motionless, his hands bloodied.

When the police arrived, the accused was lying in bed, in a “singular” state.

“He appeared to be intoxicated,” the suit recounted, adding that Normand was later taken to hospital.

During the trial scheduled for a few weeks, the Crown intends to call witnesses, both civilians and police, and experts. The degree of Normand’s intoxication will also be “a question of interest”, underlined the prosecution.

The accused, who is defended by Mr.e Catherine Daniel-Houle and Me Ulisce Desmarais pleaded not guilty. The trial, before a jury, is presided over by Judge James L. Brunton.
