More than 120 police officers conducted searches in a dozen addresses in Quebec Thursday morning as part of an investigation into drug trafficking. A total of nine people were arrested and kilograms of drugs seized.
The investigation began following information obtained in November 2022, the Longueuil agglomeration police department said in a press release on Thursday morning. It culminated Thursday morning with a vast operation involving the Longueuil agglomeration police service (SPAL), the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the Montreal police service (SPVM), the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and the Richelieu–Saint-Laurent intermunicipal police board.
Searches were carried out simultaneously in ten residences located in Longueuil, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Saint-Basile-le-Grand, Montreal and Baie-Comeau. A total of nine people were arrested, more than 5,000 methamphetamine tablets were also seized, as well as nearly half a kilo of cocaine; four kilograms of crystal meth, illicit cannabis and a firearm.
The police also found nearly $ 35,000 in Canadian money and seized six vehicles in offense property, specifies the SPAL.
