Vienna and its ancient heritage

We first go to Vienna : located in the east of the department, the city and its surroundings bear witness to a particularly rich ancient past presented to us by Olivier Sanejouand, director of the Vienna tourist office. the archaeological site of Saint-Romain-en-Gal thus constitutes one of the largest collections devoted to Gallo-Roman civilization in France. the ancient theater de Vienne, which could accommodate nearly 12,000 spectators, is one of the most important vestiges of Roman Gaul. Thanks to its restoration, the summer programs of shows have revived the entertaining function of the theatre: lyrical art, variety shows, dances, and since 1981 a jazz festival: the festival Jazz in Vienna (every year at the beginning of July).

Olivier Sanejouand also tells us about the Vienna Historical Festival which will be held on September 3 and 4 and will offer many activities and events such as battles of knights, a medieval market, shows, etc.

Grenoble yesterday and today

We then return to Grenoble to discover the city differently: Estelle Fegemanager of the Grenoble Alpes Inspirations Blog (of the Grenoble tourist office), invites us, among other original formulas, to take a canoe ride along the water.

We stay in the capital of Isère to listen Vincent Taillandierguide-lecturer, tell us about the great moments of Stendhal’s life in Grenoble, where he was born and lived until he was 16. A museum is devoted to the writer who has always shown great attachment to his hometown.

Around Grenoble

“Ma France, l’été” goes to the Vercors, in a hamlet located between Lans-en-Vercors and Villard-de-Lans to meet Sophie Valron, craftsman-creator of leather. In her artisanal mountain leather goods workshop, she imagines, designs and manufactures a complete range of leather goods: made-to-measure belts, bags, small leather goods, decoration, gift ideas or authentic souvenirs.

1 hour south of Grenoble, in Mens, is the Living Earth Centre. Its director, Pascal Aspépresents us with these 50 hectares in the heart of the forest, including 6 furnished. Spaces for vegetable cultivation, ornamental gardens, vines, orchard, ponds and basins, beehives make it a real living space as well as a learning space (guided tour, exhibitions, etc.). Innovation, transmission, sharing are at the heart of the missions of this ecological center.
