A white blanket covered part of northern France on Thursday January 18. From Pas-de-Calais to the Marne via Paris, Essonne, Orne and the Ardennes, a layer of snow sometimes reaching several centimeters appeared Wednesday evening or overnight, and proved persistent on Thursday morning . If orange vigilance was lifted by Météo-France at 10 a.m. in the departments of the northern half of the country, it still concerns seven departments of Massif-central and the Alps, where snowfall is expected in the afternoon . Franceinfo has compiled photos and videos shared on social networks by amazed Internet users, but sometimes worried about their travels.

In Ile-de-France

In Paris, from the Alexandre-III bridge (8th arrondissement) to the Bassin de la Villette (19th arrondissement), a white veil covers the capital.

In Seine-Saint-Denis too, the snow held, like here in Saint-Ouen, a town bordering the capital.

In Hauts-de-Seine, the snowflakes were also there, in Colombes or in the business district of La Défense, which borders Paris, whose official account on “rare and unique”.

Still in Ile-de-France, but further from Paris, the Palace of Versailles (Yvelines) woke up under the snow.

Same show in Meaux, Thursday morning. But in the town of Seine-et-Marne, which is 55 km from Paris, the snow appeared to form a thicker layer than in the capital and its immediate surroundings.

In Normandy

Further west, the Normandy departments were also treated to a snowy awakening, from Caen (Calvados) to Rouen (Seine-Maritime).

The landscapes of Eure and Orne have taken on the same immaculate color.

In Hauts-de-France

The northernmost French departments are not left out. A thick layer of snow was visible from Wednesday evening in Amiens (Somme), and overnight in Lille (North).

In the south of the region, in Beauvais (Oise), the mayor was delighted with the spectacle of a town hall adorned in white.

In the Great East

In Reims (Marne), the Clemenceau high school posted images of an intact coat of snow in the courtyard of the establishment, awaiting the arrival of students.

The city’s residents were also there, warning in particular of a heavy layer of snow in the cathedral area, where flakes continued to fall Thursday morning.

In Sedan, in the Ardennes, an Internet user reported around 10 cm of snow on the ground on Thursday morning.

“Take your precautions”write, for their part, the firefighters of the Ardennes, sharing the video of a technical vehicle.

Snowfall has caused disruptions, sometimes significant, on the roads and rails in many departments.
