The Lebanese living in France see their country sink every day and get bogged down in an unprecedented economic crisis. Unarmed, they resign themselves to helping from their host country.

Every week at the Saint-Charbel Church in Suresnes (Hauts-de-Seine), Lebanese Christians meet and express their dismay at the collapse of their country. “Their pain is our pain, their pain, it is our families, our friends”, confides a faithful. For more than a year, after the explosion of the port in Beirut, Lebanon has been plunged into an unprecedented political and economic crisis. Power cuts, shortage of fuel or even drugs, the situation continues to worsen

The Lebanese diaspora is organizing to come to the aid of the Lebanese who remain in the country. In France for 30 years, Armand Khoury has transformed his cultural association into a center for collecting donations. “There is a mafia in Lebanon that swallows everything, hides everything, and we take care to send drugs to people who are directly in contact with the population”, he explains. Same dismay among a group of young Lebanese students, who often meet to discuss the situation. Without illusion, they are resigned to the future of their country. “I really make the threshold of my previous life in Lebanon”, confides Andréa Abi Nader, Lebanese doctoral student in law.
