Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara captivated the audience with her music and her powerful and warm voice. The artist, who advocates living together, is amazed by the World Festival Ambert, which brings together so many cultures and artistic styles. “We can’t imagine that in Ambert, but it’s beautiful and I find it a strength to bring all these cultures together here, in this small town” she explains after her concert.

Since its creation in 1989, the Auvergne festival has welcomed 7,000 artists, musicians and dancers from nearly 100 countries. This year again, the diversity of talents and universes is the red thread of the festivities. Between the concerts of artists accustomed to festivals like Feu! Chatterton or Lilly Wood & the Prick, the public is also invited to discover performances of traditional Polish, Polynesian and Armenian dances. An eclecticism that has forged the identity of the event and which allows a wide range in the profile of festival-goers. Driven by the enthusiasm of the volunteers who ensure that the party is a success, we witness a joyful and benevolent meeting of women, men and children, united in the love of music, the discovery of others and party.

In three days, the festival which ends this Saturday, July 23, will have welcomed around 15,000 spectators. This is more than double the population of Ambert, a small town nestled in the Puy-de-Dôme. A summer break that has seduced artists and the public for 33 years.
