From candidate for mayor to candidate for Québec Solidaire

A former candidate for mayor of Saint-Jérôme, in the Laurentians, will represent Québec Solidaire (QS) in the next provincial election.

Having been nominated as a candidate in the riding of Saint-Jérôme, Marc-Olivier Neveu is already known in the region as his party finished second in the last municipal elections.

“Recall that during the last municipal elections, the young environmentalist and progressive formation that Marc-Olivier Neveu built and led as leader and candidate for mayor – the Jérômien Movement – with a new and innovative program for Saint-Jérôme, succeeded in having two municipal councilors elected and finished in second place out of the three parties, ahead of the outgoing administration,” indicated the president of the local Solidaires association, Marcel Gosselin.

Worried about the housing crisis in the municipality of the North Shore of Montreal, the QS candidate has already undertaken to meet with stakeholders in the community.

“Statistics show that the housing crisis is growing in our city, with the rental vacancy rate now at 0.2%. […] I have been campaigning for several years for more affordable housing in Saint-Jérôme for the middle class, as well as new social housing,” he said.
