Odet River – Bénodet
Stars of the Odet

The Great Sightseeing Cruise
Let yourself be enchanted by the colors of the water. Comfortably installed on the upper deck or in the interior lounge with its panoramic view, let yourself be guided along the Odet during a sightseeing cruise commented by a passionate guide aboard the Vedettes de l’Odet.

The Odet, the Beautiful Breton
Captivating, wild, untamed, a bit mysterious, the Odet well deserves its title of “prettiest river in France”, awarded by Émile Zola, himself, during a stay in Cornouaille. And when you discover the river for the first time, you understand what the writer meant. Wooded landscapes punctuated by castles and mansions of character, a veritable ball of sea and river birds, or even forgotten coves bursting with sunshine. And when the banks of the Odet take on rosy colors, it’s more than a spectacle, it’s a fairy tale of lights in this majestic setting. In May, wild rhododendrons invade the banks several meters high to make way for a breathtaking purple.
In the company of a guide who is passionate about the region and Breton traditions, the local culture and historical anecdotes will hold no secrets for you.
Choose your route
From Bénodet, explore Belle Bretonne on a commented cruise to Kerogan Bay at the entrance to Quimper. The boat turns around and goes back down the river to its estuary marked by Bénodet and Sainte Marine for a sea trip in the bay of Bénodet. The seafront of the seaside resort and the tip of Sainte Marine offer a natural panorama with the Glénan archipelago on the horizon. Return to the port of Bénodet. Duration approximately 2h15.
Another possibility from Bénodet, go up the Odet river to the port of Corniguel in Quimper before returning to Bénodet. If the tide allows it and if you wish, come ashore for a city break to discover Quimper. The historic district of the capital of Cornwall and its pedestrian streets invite you to stroll. Half-timbered houses, cobbled streets, quays of the Odet, St Corentin Cathedral, Museum of Fine Arts or Breton Departmental Museum, Henriot Pottery… there are many and varied ideas for visits to occupy your day as a couple or family! Duration approximately 2h15 round trip non-stop. Single trip approximately 1h15.
From Loctudy in July and August, go up the Odet river to the bay of Kerogan. On the way back, pass the Sainte Marine lighthouse and the Coq lighthouse to follow the beautiful stretches of beaches of Sainte Marine and Île Tudy before reaching the port of Loctudy. The Pont l’Abbé river and its wild islets take shape at the back of the port and suggest beautiful walks. Duration approximately 2h45.
Depending on the tides, embark in Quimper to cruise down the Odet with commentary before returning to the port of Quimper. Stop off at Bénodet if the tide allows it for a day on the beach and relaxation in the pretty seaside resort of southern Finistère. The coastal path offers a beautiful walk from the marina to Pointe Saint Gilles, passing by the terraces of the seafront for a lunch or coffee break. The Seaside Museum presents a free exhibition on the evolution of sea bathing. At the pier, the little train awaits you for the grand tour of Bénodet. Before leaving, enjoy an artisanal ice cream at the ice cream parlor in the port “l’Escale Sucrée Salée” with a taste of vacation!
