Patrik Laine, Dmitri Voronkov, Adam Fantilli and Boone Jenner scored for the Blue Jackets. Johnny Gaudreau and Zach Werenski both had two assists.
Brady Tkachuk scored a goal and an assist, while Claude Giroux also scored for the Senators, who lost a third straight game. Joonas Korpisalo blocked 19 shots in his first game against the Blue Jackets, his former team with whom he spent the first seven and a half years of his career.
The Senators outshot the Senators 14-2 before finally finding the back of the net at 8:43 of the first period, when Giroux slipped the puck under the goalie’s pads, at his 100e game with the Senators.
Just over two minutes later, Tkachuk made it 2-0 with a power play goal. Tim Stützle collected an assist on the goal, for his 200e career point.
Laine closed the gap on the power play and Voronkov tied the game 43 seconds later.
Fantilli gave the Blue Jackets the lead, who never looked back after that.

The Sharks win 6-3 against the Devils and win their first road game
Jacob MacDonald and Anthony Duclair both scored twice, and Kaapo Kahkonen stopped 44 shots to help the San Jose Sharks beat the New Jersey Devils 6-3 on Friday for their first road win this season .
Mikael Granlund scored a goal and added two assists, while William Eklund also scored for the Sharks. The Sharks came to New Jersey with a record of 0-10-0 on the road, and only six goals total in those games.
Dawson Mercer, Jack Hughes and Ondrej Palat lit the red light for the Devils, who had won three games in a row. In his NHL debut, Simon Nemec collected two assists. Akira Schmid stopped 12 shots.
MacDonald scored the first goal of the game 2:10 into the game.
Mercer scored his sixth goal of the season, on the power play, to tie the game.
MacDonald gave the Sharks the lead again at the start of the second period. Duclair doubled his team’s lead midway through the period.
Hughes scored his ninth goal of the season, but Duclair scored again to make it 4-2.
Eklund completed the scoring for the Sharks with an empty-net goal in the final minute of regulation time.
Former Sharks Timo Meier was back in the lineup after missing seven games with a lower-body injury.
