Rangers win 6-3 against Kraken

Vladimir Tarasenko scored early on his debut for New York and the Rangers defeated the Seattle Kraken 6-3 on Friday for a fourth straight win.

Tarasenko and Niko Mikkola traveled from St. Louis to New York on Thursday.

On Friday, Tarasenko converted a pass from Artemi Panarin 2:49 after the initial face-off.

Kaapo Kakko, Vincent Trocheck and Ryan Lindgren each had a goal and an assist.

Jacob Trouba and Mika Zibanejad also scored for the Rangers, who are undefeated in their last five games at Madison Square Garden.

Igor Shesterkin made 26 saves, being beaten by Oliver Bjorkstrand, Brandon Tanev and Jared McCann.

Martin Jones blocked 22 shots.

Maple Leafs win 3-0 over Blue Jackets

John Tavares scored two goals and the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-0 on Friday, ending a three-game losing streak.

Ilya Samsonov stopped 30 shots for his third shutout of the season.

Pierre Engvall scored the other goal and Mitch Marner had two assists.

Joonas Korpisalo made 41 saves for the Blue Jackets, who have lost four straight.

Tavares netted his first of the game in the first half, scoring his 10e power play goal, a team high. His shot went through Korpisalo’s pads.

The Blue Jackets goaltender kept his team in the game for the first two periods, stopping 27 shots. Toronto, however, took control in the final period, scoring two goals in 48 seconds.
