Friday in the NHL | Thompson scores four times in Sabers win over Devils

(Buffalo) Tage Thompson scored four goals, including the game-winner with 4:34 left in regulation, and the Buffalo Sabers defeated the New Jersey Devils 5-2 on Friday night.


The Sabers were down 2-0, but Thompson scored three straight goals for his team. He completed his night’s work by scoring into an empty net with six seconds remaining.

It was only the third time this season (16-2-1) that the Devils lost after having the lead after the first period.

JJ Peterka, with a fifth goal in four games, also scored into an empty net.

Alex Tuch had two assists and goaltender Devon Levi blocked 28 shots.

Max Willman and Jesper Bratt found the back of the net for the Devils. Jake Allen stopped 31 shots.
