Jaccob Slavin broke a 2-2 tie at 7:53 in the third period Friday, guiding the Carolina Hurricanes to a 5-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues.

Jake Guentzel scored twice in an empty net for the Hurricanes, undefeated in their last four games.

Seth Jarvis and Jordan Martinook were the other scorers for Carolina.

Frederik Andersen blocked 29 shots, bringing his record to 13-2-0.

He gave in to Jordan Kyrou and Trifluvien Zachary Bolduc, author of a fifth goal in the National League.

Jordan Binnington made 37 saves.

Robert Thomas took part in both goals for the Blues, reaching the milestone of 60 assists during the season. He is the first player of his team to reach this plateau since 1993-94 (Craig Janney, with 68).

The Golden Knights reach the playoffs by correcting the Wild

Chandler Stephenson had four assists and the Vegas Golden Knights beat the Minnesota Wild 7-2 on Friday, securing a playoff spot in the West.

Stephenson took part in four goals in a row for his team (Pavel Dorofeyev, Jack Eichel, Jonathan Marchessault, Tomas Hertl).

Nicolas Roy, Erik Karlsson and Keegan Kolesar provided the other goals for the Golden Knights, who ended a three-game losing streak.

Roy scored the first goal of the match in the third minute of play, shorthanded.

Marchessault hit the target with a superiority in the second period, collecting a 42e goal this season.

Logan Thompson made 25 saves.

Ryan Hartman and Marat Khusnutdinov signed the Minnesota nets, while Marc-André Fleury blocked 23 shots.

Arizona snatches victory from Edmonton; McDavid misses a 2e match in a row

Matias Maccelli ended the suspense in overtime and the Arizona Coyotes beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-2 on Friday.

Maccelli got his 15e goal of the season at 1:35, into the top of the net.

Josh Doan and Logan Cooley also scored for the Coyotes, who have won four of their last five games.

Adam Henrique and Darnell Nurse fought back for the Oilers.

Winning goalkeeper Karel Vejmelka made 37 saves, 12 more than Calvin Pickard.

The Oilers had won three games in a row.

Thanks to the point obtained, Edmonton will have home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Star player Connor McDavid missed a second game in a row with a lower body problem.

McDavid is a day-to-day case, leading the Oilers with 130 points.

He is one pass away from becoming the fourth player in history with 100 assists in a season.

The Oilers will host the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night.
