The Red Wings beat the Bruins for the second time this season
Alex DeBrincat and JT Compher both had a goal and an assist and the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Boston Bruins 5-2, their second victory at the expense of the best team in the NHL this season.
Robby Fabbri, Dylan Larkin and David Perron completed the scoring for the Wings, the only team to beat the Bruins (14-2-3) in regulation time this season. Shayne Gostisbehere contributed two assists and Ville Husso stopped 25 pucks.
Jake DeBrusk and Danton Heinen scored for the Bruins. Jeremy Swayman made 24 saves on his 25th daye birthday.
The Wings took advantage of six power plays to improve their record to 10-0-2 when scoring four or more goals.
Despite a shutout in his last outing against the New Jersey Devils, Alex Lyon acted as backup goalie for the Wings. Husso had allowed four or more goals in his last three outings, but he was excellent until DeBrusk capitalized on his return to bring the Bruins closer to 2-1.
But Husso held the fort and repelled the Bruins’ attacks until Fabbri gave his team a two-goal lead again at 13:24 of the second.
Heinen brought the Bruins closer early in the third, but a penalty to Brandon Carlo less than a minute later put Larkin up 4-2.
Perron completed in an empty net.
