There will be many Habs in bobsleigh in Beijing. The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation unveiled Monday, January 17 the quotas allocated for each nation for the Olympic Games in China (February 4-20). France gets two tickets in total.

Romain Heinrich is selected (two-man and four-man bob events), as is Margot Boch (in monobob and two-man bob).

These quotas must still be validated by the French National Olympic and Sports Committee. The final list must be communicated no later than Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. Unless unforeseen, the French who have obtained these precious sesame should be on the trip to Beijing.

France had never sent a female delegation to these events at the Olympics since the introduction of women’s bobsleigh at the Salt Lake City Games in 2002. Margot Boch will also be one of the first women to compete in the monobob event, a novelties of these Games. Junior world champion, who became the first Frenchwoman to win the European Cup on January 7 in Austria, Boch (23rd in the world rankings) will team up with her pusher sidekick, Clara Sénéchal, in a two-man bobsleigh.

His male counterpart, Lucas Defayet, is on the quota reallocation list if certain delegations were to miss the Games. However, he is only ranked sixth there, making his appearance at Beijing 2022 unlikely.

For his part, Romain Heinrich, considered one of the best pilots in two-man bobsleigh, hopes to be in the fight for a medal. This will be his third appearance at the Olympics.
