Almost 100 days before the football tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (from July 24 to August 10), the lists are taking shape and, while waiting for those of Thierry Henry and Hervé Renard, that of the referees is already known. FIFA announced on Wednesday April 3 the names of those elected to officiate during the competition and, among them, is François Letexier. This is the Frenchman’s first major international final phase, after Euro Espoirs 2021 and the 2023 European Super Cup.

I am proud and happy with this appointment, underlined the 35-year-old referee to the FFF. Participating in the Olympic Games in France is a unique opportunity, a dream come true. I measure how far I have come. I thank everyone who helped me in my journey as a referee.”

At his side, Cyril Mugnier and Mehdi Rahmouni, his “faithful helpers”, were appointed as assistant referees for the tournament. Already present during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Jérôme Brisard is once again selected as video assistant referee (VAR).
