The tricolor triathlon continues to shine. A year after Léo Bergère’s world champion title, another Frenchman won the world crown. Dorian Coninx scored a double blow on Saturday September 23 by winning the last stage of the World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) in Pontevedra (Spain).

Fifth in the general classification at the start of the event, Dorian Coninx surprised the favorites Alex Yee (Great Britain) and Hayden Wilde (Australia). The Habs sprinted to a group of four triathletes, including his compatriots Léo Bergère (4th on the line and second overall) and Pierre Le Corre (3rd). Enough to make a jump in the general ranking.

The 2021 European champion offers the French camp its fourth international title in five years among men, after those of Léo Bergère (2022) and Vincent Luis (2019, 2020). A series only interrupted by the Norwegian Kristian Blummenfelt (2021), reigning Olympic champion, and one of the main rivals of the Blues for the 2024 Olympics. And it is perhaps not over since, on Sunday, Cassandre Beaugrand will be the big favorite among the women, she who currently occupies first place in the general ranking. The young nugget Emma Lombardi (22 years old) will also have her say.
