If the year 2022 looks bright for French winegrowers, foreign operators are not so lucky. David Boeri is on the 12/13 set, Thursday November 3, for explain the reasons for this French exception.
Wine production is declining globally. This is not a first since it is the fourth consecutive year in which a decrease has been observed. “In 2022, production is currently estimated at 260 million hectoliters, i.e. a further drop of 1%. This is below the average for the past 20 years.“, indicates the journalist, David Boéri present on the set of 12/13, Thursday November 3. This drop in production is due to difficult weather conditions and water shortages in certain regions of the world.
Unlike world production, that of France is up sharply compared to 2021. “France should produce nearly 44 million hectoliters, a 17% increase in volumes“, reports the journalist. Despite a vintage that promises to be exceptional, the wine is no exception to the rule in terms of inflation, it too is impacted by the rise in the price of electricity or diesel. David Boeri concludes: “2022 is already shaping up to be a good, but expensive vintage“.
