Hundreds of soldiers have been taking turns since February on a NATO base in Romania. France will settle there permanently. Update with journalist Clément Le Goff.
France will strengthen its position on a strategic site, located in Romania. “The French army is settling in Romania, and a small town is being built here, (…) in the very center of the country, in a very small village, in Transylvania”explains journalist Clément Le Goff, in duplex from Cincu (Romania).
“For the past few weeks, military engineers from Besançon (Doubs) and Castelsarrasin (Tarn-et-Garonne) have been hard at work day and night to build what will soon be NATO’s main base in the south of France. Eastern Europe”, continues the journalist. Some of the soldiers took part, a few months ago, in Operation Barkhane. “Their goal, to build a camp for 1,000 men, a NATO detachment with French, Romanians, but also soon Belgians and Dutch with a mission, to deter and protect European borders”concludes the journalist.
